“The Japan Committee, Vaccines for the World’s Children” (JCV)  participate in the Osaka Marathon 2027 Charity as a donation recipient organization. This year, once again, we are looking for donations and Charity Runners to participate in the race to help protect the lives of children in developing countries from infectious diseases!

The appeal of the Osaka Marathon 2027 Charity

The race course covers a distance of 42.195 km, starting in front of the Osaka Prefectural Government Building and finishing at Osaka Castle Park.Although there are some small ups and downs towards the end, the course is relatively flat, making it an easy race even for beginners.It is an enjoyable route that allows runners to view famous landmarks such as Osaka Castle and Dotonbori.The fact that many people will be cheering them on on the day is also a welcome bonus for the runners.

Another major attraction is the aid stations where you can enjoy Osaka’s famous local foods.In particular, the “Maido Aid” stations—supported by Osaka City’s shopping districts—serve up a wide array of quintessential Osaka treats, such as takoyaki, *o-yatsu inari* (bite-sized sushi pockets), and *ningyo-yaki* (doll-shaped cakes).You can enjoy a delicious running experience that is unique to the Osaka Marathon.

The current situation in developing countries supported by JCV

Currently, JCV is supporting four countries: Myanmar, Laos, Bhutan, and Vanuatu.

In Myanmar, a major earthquake struck in 2024 amidst ongoing civil war, and reconstruction is still not progressing.Outbreaks of polio, measles, and diphtheria have been confirmed among children who do not have access to vaccinations.we are working with local UNICEF organizations to prevent infectious diseases in ethnic minority areas, bypassing the Ministry of Health which is under the control of the military regime.

Meanwhile, in Laos, Bhutan, and Vanuatu, vaccination efforts are progressing smoothly. In Bhutan, in particular, vaccination rates have reached 99% for most vaccines, preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases.
In Vanuatu, a pertussis outbreak occurred in 2025, but through proactive vaccination efforts, it was quickly brought under control. Thanks to your support, the lives of many children and the smiles of their families are being protected.

JCV’s 32 Years of Child Vaccine Support

The Japan Committee, Vaccines for the World’s Children (JCV) has been working with local UNICEF and medical professionals for 32 years to provide “Children’s Vaccine Support,” donating vaccines against infectious diseases to children in developing countries.To date, we have provided basic vaccines, including those for polio, measles, tetanus, and other diseases, as well as related equipment,such as storage refrigerators, to 139,660,724 children in 10 countries.

It is estimated that 4,000 children die every day from preventable infectious diseases, or one child every 20 seconds.
